My Own Struggle From 'F's to 'A's...
I was only 13 years old, a very young teenager, just getting used to high school. I was having the most fun of my life. At that time, computer games were very popular among my friends. Instead of spending time studying and doing homework every day, I spent most of my time in front of the computer screen.
I wasn't a very bright student but I managed to get into a high school. But after playing computer games for the whole day, my studies began to lag behind.
To make the matters worse, I was so tired and sleeping in class became my daily routine.
As a result, my grades were always in the F's and E's range. The teachers often made me stayed back for numerous one-to-one consultations. I was so frantic that I would fail my exam that on one occasion, I resorted to cheating. And I was caught by the examiner!
My mum was so worried and furious that she almost send me overseas for studies, hopefully I would have a brighter future.
Even though she did not send me overseas, I was forced on 'compulsive tutoring sessions' for 2 years. Every week, I had 4 tutoring lessons with numerous tutors. And the tutors would try to talk some sense into me.
Through sheer force and a bit of luck, I managed to scrapped through with a below average grade for my high school leaving exams.
Even with my pathetic grades, I tried to apply for some of the top junior colleges in my district. However, my below average grades was outright rejected by the principals. No amount of pleading could give me a place in these top junior colleges.
In the end, I was admitted to the lower ranking junior college.
Through the process of applying for the top colleges, I went through a lot of humiliation. As I applied to the numerous junior colleges, I was given lots of "look" that implied something like "you are just not good enough to be in our colleges, go somewhere else."
And it was during this crucial period of my life that I've made one out-of-my-mind decision:
"I Am Going To Ace My 'A' Levels And Prove To These Junior Colleges I Can Do It!"
That was my turning point. It set me on fire for the rest of my 2 years of junior college days.
I became obsessed with the subjects of accelerated learning and how to maximize the power of our brain. I wanted to know everything there was to know about how to be smarter, more intelligently, and ace my exams every time - I've been absolutely consumed by this quest.
Besides my daily lessons in school, I began to start reading
